Co.Mad (Colehill Music and Drama)

Co.MaD meet to rehearse most weeks on Tuesday evenings at 8.15 in Colehill Memorial Hall. Originally formed by a group of parents of children at Colehill First School in 1999 to raise money for a specific project at the school, Co.MaD have performed a pantomime in every year since and have raised thousands of pounds for Schools, Charities and Good Causes in Colehill and the East Dorset area.   With the exception of the original Cinderella script, which was written outside the society, all of Co.MaD’s scripts have been original, in-house material.

This year (2018) our pantomime was Sleeping Beauty, written by Co.MaD founder member Pam Mizon and performed during the first weekend of February.  It raised £1,200, which was spilt between two local charities.  Our pantomime for 2019 will be Snow White, written by Alice Behling.

As well as the annual pantomime Co.MaD also perform Cabarets (for adult audiences), host karaoke (or sometimes Curry-Oke) evenings, quizzes and other entertainments.

Dorset Hardy Plant Society

The Hardy Plant Society has around 7,000 members in the UK and abroad ~ it exists to stimulate interest in growing hardy herbaceous plants. The Dorset Group was formed in 1998. We hold 7 Speaker Meetings per year at Colehill Memorial Hall, usually on the last Saturday of the months of January-April and September-November, with doors opening at 2.00 p.m. ready for the start of the talk at 2.30 p.m. We usually have plant sales, where the plants are often provided by both our members, and from the Speaker, depending on their particular link with gardening. In addition we have a raffle and card stall.
At half time drinks and homemade cake are available. In order to deal as speedily as possible with the queue for refreshments, we have tried to reduce payment of cash at the kitchen hatch. As everyone arrives, they seek out the member who is selling different coloured "tea-sticks", to designate tea, coffee and cake. Our members take it in turns to make the cakes - a list of what cakes are available will be by the entrance to the Hall.

When: The last Saturday of the months of January-April and September-November.

Where: Colehill Memorial Hall

Time: 2pm, meetings start at 2.30pm
